You may have noticed your children, your local library or school gearing up for this celebration of reading and getting their costume ideas flowing. A lot of these activities can get the FOMO going, but a love of books isn't limited to the kiddos!

This year's book week theme is "Dreaming With Eyes Open", a concept steeped in magic and wonder that witches work towards in their own unique way, no matter their tradition or path. The Satanic Bible is the central text of LaVeyan Satanism, first published in 1969, and contains essays, observations and rituals by its author and founder of the Church of Satan, Anton Szandor LaVey. Though it isn't viewed as a sacred text as a Christian would the Holy Bible, it does detail the philosophies at the centre of Satanism, such as the value of the individual, following human instincts, and the existence of God and Satan as aspects of a person's personality rather than deities. Although considered a controversial volume, this is one of the most highly rated books in our store and offers readers the chance to understand the influence LaVey's work has had on modern Satanism and pop culture.
