How to Put in Plugs & Tunnels

Putting in plugs and tunnels can be a straightforward process, but it's crucial to do it safely and gradually. Start by ensuring that you're using the correct size for your stretched ears. Gradually increase the size, and never force a larger gauge into your ear.

For an easier insertion, try putting in the plugs or tunnels after a warm shower. The heat and moisture will make your lobes more supple and stretchable. Gently massage your earlobes to loosen the skin.

Using lube is essential for a smoother insertion process. Opt for a water-based or natural lube like emu, vitamin E oil, or olive oil. Avoid using petroleum jelly (Vaseline) as it can cause complications.

When inserting, use a taper plug slightly smaller than your current gauge. Apply lube to the taper and gently insert it into the piercing. Follow through with the jewellery, especially if you're using single-flared plugs. For double-flared plugs, use lube and insert the plug with the edge first, at an angle, similar to threading a button into a buttonhole. Avoid forcing the jewellery, as tearing the skin can lead to scar tissue.
