What Is A Grimoire?
Grimoire is a catch-all term that usually describes a book containing a collection of spells, rituals and instructions on how to construct magical objects which were historically written by demonologists and occultists.
A book of shadows is a grimoire specific to Wicca practitioners, written by witches themselves to record their own spells and rituals. It is a deeply personal item and there is no one set format on how to create one: some witches treat it as a record of their own developed spells, others treat it as a journal with a magical flair.
How Do I Start A Grimoire?
There's no one way to start a grimoire, so the options are endless! First, take a look at your end goal-what do you want out of a grimoire? Do you want to have a record of your favourite, tried and true spells and rituals? Do you want to create a diary of your dreams to interpret what they mean? Do you want something similar to a junk journal that's a mishmash of absolutely everything? No matter what, start by picking a journal that speaks to you-its an extension of yourself so get something that's as unique and practical as you!
