Candle Spell for the New Year
You can use everything you have received in your Intention Ritual Kit to perform this ritual. This ritual does not need to be performed during Samhain, you can use it whenever you would like to, Samhain just possesses strong spiritual energy and will aid in setting your intentions & manifesting your desires!
You Will Need
- Coloured spell candle*
- Anointing oil*
- Witch intention herb blend*
- Bowl or cauldron
- Plate
- Candle holder or Blu tac & fire-safe bowl
- Lighter or matches

The Ritual
- Pour a handful of your intention herb blend into your hands and ask the herbs and their ingredients to aid you in the selected intention, for example:
"Birch, elderflower & nettle, protect me against negativity and bad influences and aid me in keeping true to my boundaries" - Drop the herbs into your cauldron or bowl and mix them together while envisioning their magickal properties working to manifest your intentions. Do this until you feel you have worked your intention into the herbs
- Anoint your candle with your anointing oil. Depending on your intention, you may like to draw something into your life (eg. money) or get rid of something (eg. cleansing negative energy). First, place a few drops of your intention oil in your hands and gently rub them together. Then, hold your candle in front of you with the wick facing away from your body. If you would like to draw things into your life, rub the oil from the wick towards your body, if you would like to get rid of something, start at the base of the candle and push the oil away from you. Whilst doing this, focus your energy on your intention and visualise the candle's energy amplifying your desires
- Dress your candle with your herb blend. Place your herb mixture onto a plate and gently roll your anointed candle into the herbal mixture. While you do this, visualise your intention and focus your energy on your desired outcome. After you have done this, you should have a candle that is gently coated in dry herbs. If you are having difficulties with the herbs sticking, use a mortar and pestle or equivalent to crush the herbs into smaller pieces.
- Place your dressed candle in your candle holder or add blu tac to the bottom and stick to the bottom of your fire-safe bowl
- When you are ready, light your dressed spell candle and envision your spell working to bring you what you desire. Focus your vision on the flame and look for images that may appear - this is how the universe, your spirit guides & ancestors may deliver messages to you.
- Stay by your candle until it burns down completely
