I used this dye alongside Lunar Tides’ Magic Oracle since my hair wasn’t acceptable for a new job, and I love it so much! It’s dark enough that I can get away with it for work while still enjoying a fun colour, but the one issue I’ve had was that it wouldn’t stick to my virgin, unbleached roots.
The colour is beautiful, and it does show up on dark hair as a slight tint in the sun (see my attempt at an oil slick coloured baby mullet).
It didn’t last long :( by 2 washes it had noticeably faded and by wash 4 it was gone completely. I also noticed that after rinsing the dye out, my hair felt dry and tangly, probably due to the protein content in the dye.
I know typically you would prelighten before applying these direct dyes, but my fringe and under layer is pre-lightened and I used another of the “magic” dyes by Lunar tides, and while it has left a stain behind, my hair is now more green than the original colour, but I wouldn’t say it looks bad.
So 3 stars for:
1. Pretty colour
2. Decent pay off on dark hair
3. Faded gracefully
-2 points for:
- the dry tangly hair thing (which did go away after 1 shampoo, thankfully!
