Master Root (Ruler’s Root / Masterwort)

Master Root, sometimes called Ruler’s Root or Masterwort, is one of the most respected roots in traditional Hoodoo and conjure work. Revered as a botanical of authority, mastery, and spiritual strength, it is believed to empower the one who carries or works with it, helping them take control of situations and command favourable outcomes.

Closely related to Angelica root, Master Root carries similar protective and amplifying qualities. It is often used in sympathetic magic to strengthen personal power, reinforce boundaries, and establish dominance over difficult circumstances. When worked with intentionally, practitioners believe it can help restore balance, assert leadership, and bring clarity when navigating complex situations.

Master Root is also associated with ancestral connection. Many traditions hold that the root carries an ancestral current, helping the practitioner align with their lineage and draw strength from those who came before. For this reason, it is often placed on altars, ancestor shrines, or kept as a personal talisman.

In many folk traditions, each root is believed to contain its own spirit. When treated with respect and given offerings such as oils, incense, or perfume, the spirit of the root is said to become an ally, working alongside the practitioner to bring their intentions into manifestation. Some keep their root wrapped in cloth or housed on their altar, periodically anointing it and speaking their intentions aloud.

Powerful yet deeply personal, Master Root is traditionally worked with as a spiritual partner rather than simply a tool.

You can use master root in enchanted oils and dried botanical blends and add it to your altar. It lends its energy of mastery to your altar space.

  • Small: 30-40gm, 18-20cm long
  • Medium: 80-85gm, 15-16cm long
  • Large: 85-110gm, 20-23cm long
  • Double: 2 roots incorporated in one, 90-110gm, 20-23cm long

SAFETY: The sap from masterwort can cause phototoxicity if it comes into contact with the skin. The degree of reaction varies by individual. Masterwort is mildly toxic, and large doses can cause hallucinations. Masterwort should not be used during pregnancy.

Easy 30 Day Returns


We accept returns within 30 days of your order being shipped to you. We are happy to accept most full priced items back for a refund*, store credit or exchange within 30 days of purchase.


  • *Pre-order items (including shoes), items from discounted orders and sale items are not eligible for a refund and can be returned for an exchange or store credit. Only full priced, non discounted orders are eligible for a refund. 
  • Returns must be lodged through our return portal. If you do not select to use a prepaid label through the portal, please include a note that specifies: full name, order number and/or return number.
    Any returns received outside our portal will be processed as a store credit.
  • Items must be in original condition. No tears, marks, scuffs, animal fur, makeup, or cigarette smells. Shoes must be in original boxes with all packaging. Do not ruin shoe boxes by taping labels to them. We reserve the right to charge a box fee in this instance of $10.00. 
  • International orders of shoes can receive a credit or refund. If you wish to exchange please place an order for the new size and then return the original pair of shoes for a refund. If your order was not eligible for a refund, only credit, we will still refund upon receiving your return if you have purchased an alternate size of that item. Simply order the new size, open a return of a credit, and add a note in with your return stating you have reordered with the new order number included.
  • Items must be returned in as new condition fit for resale.
  • Makeup, intimates, some underwear, piercing jewellery, swimwear, herbs, hair dye or beauty products cannot be returned for health and hygiene reasons.
  • Final Sale Items cannot be returned. These items are clearly labelled on the product page in red lettering so you know you are about to grab an amazing bargain, but you will need to choose carefully!
  • If you have a problem with an item we will always work with you to resolve it fairly. Please read the section below "I got my order and something's wrong". When you have a major problem with a product, you have the right to ask for your choice of a replacement, store credit, or refund.
