LA RICHE DIRECTIONS: BRIGHT HAIR DYE ON A BUDGET

La Riche Directions are celebrating 40 years worth of is vegan and cruelty-free hair dye and we here at Tragic Beautiful are joining in!  Bringing their amazing products to Australia straight from the UK, you can mix and match from their insane range of 46 bright shades.

Don't be fooled by the bargain price, these shades are formulated to last!  Directions are famous for their colour payoff that lasts through multiple washes.  These little tubs contain absolutely no ammonia, peroxide, or PPD so you can rest assured that your locks will be nourished as you dye.

OUR FAVE DIRECTIONS SHADES

With bright colours spanning the entire vegan rainbow, it can be hard to choose where to start.  Be sure to pre-lighten your hair to maximise colour payoff and get the closest result to what you see in the tub.  These are a few of our faves here at Tragic as well as a few of the most popular among our customers:

Let's start with some delightful pinks!  Rose Red is a deep, violet toned pink for those who want a soft alternative to fiery reds.  It also works well with darker hair!  For those looking for something soft and cute, Pastel Pink is the way to go!  It's super girly and super light and can be diluted to be even softer.  Flamingo Pink is the perfect in-between, a bubblegum pink that shines bright and vibrant for those after a really bold statement.

If you want a mane that burns bright, you'll have to dry the wicked reds and oranges. First up is Tangerine: a red-toned orange for those after firey locks.  Pillarbox Red is Directions most popular red, and you can see why!  It's versatile, bright red perfect for those who can't choose between something warm or cool.

For those coveting mermaid locks or something eerie, here's our fave blues and greens.  Apple Green is delightfully bright and looks amazing paired with other shades.  For bright siren locks, Lagoon Blue is a vibrant aqua that will have you looking ethereal and stunning!

To prep your hair or just achieve that coveted silver well, Directions also have excellent toners.  The Silver toner is perfect for those looking for the hyper trendy silver-grey look while the White toner makes your locks snow white, which also works great to increase colour payoff for shades applied on top. Just be sure to have pre-lightened hair before applying toners as they will have no effect on dark hair.

So go ahead and live your rainbow mane fantasy!

DIRECTIONS FAQ

HOW LONG DOES DIRECTIONS HAIR DYE LAST?

This will depend on a number of factors: the condition of your hair and its type will absorb products differently, and certain shades may leave a permanent stain on light blonde hair. It's always best to ask a salon professional before trying out new products if you're worried about how it will affect your hair.

WILL DIRECTIONS DYE WORK ON DARK HAIR?

For the most vibrant and bright results, it is best to pre-lighten hair before dying to achieve a shade closest to what you see in the jar. However, if your hair is quite dark and you want to avoid bleach, Directions has plenty of shades that will add a subtle tint to darker hair! It's best to choose darker shades such as Rose Red, Midnight or Alpine Green as lighter or pastel shades will compete with your natural hair colour and not show as well.

DOES DIRECTIONS DYE WORK ON GREY HAIR?

No matter your shade, whether you be blonde, brunette or grey, everyone's hair is different. Some people with grey hair will find excellent coverage from Directions dye depending on how naturally porous your strands are. If you're unsure, it's best to try darker shades to start off with.
