The Brisbane Gothic and Alternative Picnic - Tragic Beautiful Style!

Greetings, fellow creatures of the night! We, at Tragic Beautiful, were thrilled to be a part of the spellbinding Brisbane Gothic and Alternative Picnic that took place on the 17th of June, 2023. As a gothic and alternative owned & operated store in Brisbane, it was an honour for us to get involved in this captivating event and meet our people. The atmosphere was enchanting, and the picnic setups were nothing short of extraordinary!

A Feast for the Macabre

Our presence at the picnic was made all the more memorable by our stunning coffin table, adorned with our exquisite Ophelia Coffin Bath Tray, repurposed as a glorious charcuterie serving tray. It served as the perfect centrepiece for our gothic feast of charcuterie and delectable delights. There's something eerily delightful about indulging in scrumptious treats on a coffin-inspired table!

Winner's Circle

We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to the winners of our major prize, Georgina, Rachael, and Raven, for their incredibly beautiful gothic picnic setup. Their attention to detail was impeccable, featuring bat serving platters, incense, gothic tunes, cherry liqueur, gothic candelabras, candles, and an abundance of skulls and bats.

It was a sight to behold, and their creativity truly shone through. We wouldn't expect anything less from the gothic group who brought us Australia's premiere deathrock, trad-rock horror punk party, 1334! 

Runner Up Magic

A special mention goes to Anna and her group of friends, whose table was a captivating dining room spread, fit for a vampire! Adorned with coffin cutting boards, candelabras, and skulls, their picnic setup exuded an enchanting ambiance. And let's not forget the highlight—a bowl of the most delicious pumpkin soup I've ever tasted. Anna and co's display was a feast for the senses, both visually and gastronomically.

The Brisbane Gothic and Alternative Picnic was nothing short of an incredible success, with over 400 like-minded individuals attending the event! The sense of camaraderie and community was palpable as people shared their passion for the gothic and alternative culture. It was heartwarming to witness the creativity and diversity that our subculture embraces.

As the sun set and darkness descended upon the picnic, we couldn't help but feel a sense of longing for the next gathering. The Brisbane Gothic and Alternative Picnic has become a staple event that brings our community together. The event started as a way for event hostess, Jocelyn Lothian, to celebrate her birthday, and after twelve amazing years it has become a staple in the Brisbane Goth calendar. We eagerly anticipate the next installment, where we can once again revel in the macabre beauty of everything gothic & alternative!

Tragic Beautiful had an unforgettable time at the Brisbane Gothic and Alternative Picnic, where we encountered kindred spirits and celebrated our unique subculture. The picnic setups, including the winners and runner-up, were awe-inspiring, showcasing the creativity and passion that exists within our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizers for curating such a marvelous event. Until the next gathering, let's keep the darkness alive and embrace the beauty of our gothic and alternative souls.
